Austin wears it's weird again, and that's about all, with Cupid's Undie Run. A bunch of peeps complete a mile run downtown,.. in their underwear,... in February. Then party the rest of the day,.. in their underwear,.. in February. The lack of clothing did not lack a purpose as it's all about fundraising for the Children's Tumor Foundation. Of course, you know I'd be there with my camera right? Happy Valentines Day!
The freaks come out on Dirty 6th to party in the streets in their ghoulish creations. Austin is an amazing city to get your freak on as it celebrates Halloween like no other, so I hit the streets with my camera to capture the marvelous mayhem.
I had the pleasure of shooting an event to benefit the cure, as well as a local breast cancer patient, Mandi Adair. If a great personality and a strong positive spirit contribute anything towards survival, I think Mandi will be with us for a long long time.
I decided on a whim to go down to the Keep Austin Weird Festival and capture images of Austinites in their natural habitat. The highlight of the day was when I decided to shoot the band, and as I'm snapping some initial shots, I'm like, where have I heard these distinct vocal chops? Turns out I stumbled upon Chris Carrabba from Dashboard Confessional playing in a band called Twin Forks, and I'm right up front with my 70 to 200. He was nice enough to whip out several DC tunes upon request, and did a great acoustic version of Vindicated. Austin is such an awesome city. Here's some shots from the day.
